FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.  Is this for campus students, or can online students be involved too?

A.  The Excellence Program is for both campus and online students, who are currently Entertainment or Music Business Bachelor's students.

Q.  Do I need to fill out an application to join the Excellence Program?

A.  No, there is no application process.  The Excellence Program Committee continuously monitors all GPA and GPS averages.  Students who meet the criteria will receive a personal letter from the committee members inviting them to join. Induction Ceremonies will happen twice a year.

Q.  What happens if my GPA falls below 3.5?

A.  If scores fall below a 3.5 GPA or a 95 GPS, they must be brought back up before graduation, or the student will not be able to graduate with Excellence.

Q.  Do all departments participate in the Excellence Program, or is this just for EBBS/MBBS?

A.  Currently, only the EBBS/MBBS Department fully participates through this version. IMBS students should use this site for their Excellence Program. We anticipate other departments joining in the near future.

Q.  May I complete more than eight (8) Excellence Components?

A.  Yes, you are free to complete as many ECs as you want.  However, you need to have passed at least eight (8) in order to graduate with Excellence.

Q.  What kind of community service hours do I have to complete?

A.  You can become involved in a charity or cause that is important to you! (Though, you may not receive GPS points AND use them for your volunteer hours/No Pure Motivation Events through Full Sail.) Volunteer at any non-profit organization and then fill out the "Community Involvement Documentation"  form located on this website.  If you have any questions, please contact us for clarification.

Q.  I completed volunteer hours when I was in high school.  Will these count towards the community service hours requirement?

A.  The ten (10) community service hours must be completed while you are a registered student at Full Sail University.  Any prior volunteer efforts or GPS events will not count towards community service hours.

Q.  Am I permitted to complete the Components without being in the Excellence Program?

A.  Yes.  The Excellent Components are available for all Full Sail students, and you do not have to be a member of the Excellence Program to participate.  We want to offer everyone the opportunity to challenge themselves and learn at a higher level in all classes.

Q.  Do I need to attend the Induction Ceremony?

A.  Attending the ceremony is not a requirement; however, it is a great way to meet new inductees and members.  Also, you will be able to meet and network with the Excellence Committee! If you cannot attend but would still like to join, please note that on the RSVP form. There is always a choice to participate via GoToTraining, even for campus students.

Q.  What happens at the Induction Ceremony?

A.  The Induction Ceremony typically runs about a half hour. The requirements for acceptance naturally create a small-exclusive group of students. During the ceremony you will be formally initiated through a pledge and book signing. There will also be instructions on how to be successful in your Excellence journey. Your photo will likely be taken! There is no formal dress code, however, students tend to come in business casual.

Q.  Why should I join?

A. The Excellence Program is not your average honors organization! We recognize high-achieving students and provide opportunities for members to develop leadership skills. In addition to recognition and leadership development, members can make positive changes to our community and campus by participating in service events and plan for new endeavors!  Students often make valuable connections with other high achievers, and this makes the college experience more rewarding.
